CASARA is a nation-wide organization, with a head office in Winnipeg, Manitoba. We are dedicated to the promotion of SAR Awareness, and provide air search and rescue services to the National Search and Rescue Program.
Manitoba is served by four CASARA zones, each having its own leadership structure - Winnipeg, Brandon, The Pas, and Thompson. We operate a Provincial Training Centre at St. Andrews Airport (CYAV).
Primary services are delivered using light 4-seat aircraft, such as Cessna 172 & 182 (member owned or rented). We're now using drones and cameras to augment our missions.
In addition to training search personnel, CASARA assists the RCMP, the Canadian Military and its divisions, Parks Canada, Canadian Coast Guard, and local municipal forces in searching for aircraft, boaters, hikers and others in need of assistance.
